About

Andrew Fullerton

I'm a product designer who also builds the frontend for what I design. I organize and lead research, help develop strategy, and then carry that work through into shipped, working software — currently as a Sr. Design Architect at AWS, where I split my time between designing cloud products with customers and writing the frontend code for the tools and prototypes that come out of that work.

Experience

  • Sr. Design Architect, AWS

    March 2020–Current

I advise and co-create cloud products with customers end to end, moving from research and strategy into frontend development on the resulting tools and prototypes. That work has ranged from a transportation service that increased fleet profitability by an average of 5%, to an internal risk management tool that cut time to coverage by 28%, to a KPI tracker used by 2,500+ weekly users across AWS Professional Services.

  • Lead Product Designer, Healthgrades

    August 2018–March 2020

I owned the search and profile experiences on Healthgrades.com, leading a core site design refresh across 400k visits while protecting existing metrics and ad revenue, and partnering with data science on a new outcomes-based search experience for rare conditions. I also trained other teams on a new design system and built an accessibility guide to bring the core product to WCAG 2.1 AA.

  • User Experience Designer, Universal Mind

    April 2014–June 2017

As a UX/UI designer at this digital products consultancy, I worked across a wide range of clients: IoT-connected office furniture designed to encourage healthier workdays, a non-profit education prototype that helped secure $500,000 in new funding, and an early-stage genetic sequencing product through its successful launch in the US and China.

  • UI Designer, Convercent

    February 2013–January 2014

I designed for an enterprise HR application, supporting two development teams with UX, UI, and frontend code. I led design and implementation for data visualizations, company onboarding, and mobile applications, and built interactive prototypes used in both usability testing and sales demos.
